During Miki Nakamura’s 20-year career, he has driven cross-border sales and go-to-market strategies, representing the high-end designer furniture manufacturers in key markets across the Asia Pacific region, in particular Japan. Fluent English and Japanese facilities easy engagement with clients, manufacturers, suppliers and distributors.
He has received recognition for his deep commitment to understanding customer needs and the ability to deliver commercially beneficial positions. Having built new sales channels, client and partner relationships in Japan, Nakamura has commenced portfolio of country management and sales representation services that includes opening of new dealer accounts, dealer management, project pipeline development, direct sales, customer service, logistics and local showroom establishment planning among other services.
Previously in his career, Nakamura was the country manager in Japan for Poggenpohl and Framery, heading the local subsidiaries in Japan as the Representative Director. His responsibilities for included P/L, management of the local showroom in Tokyo, sales team supervisory, delivery of projects, after-service, HR, logistics, and marketing. In Poggenpohl he aggressively executed brand repositioning and showroom renovation, whereas in Framery Nakamura tripled the market revenue in six months.
In December 2021 Nakamura was asked to take over the Asia Pacific region for Poggenpohl where he soon setup new distributors and showrooms in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia. Multimillion euro order in 2022 for the tallest skyscraper in Singapore and record-breaking multimillion euro orders from Japan and Korea were secured in 2023.
Earlier in his career, Nakamura was headhunted and appointed Sales Director to take BuzziSpace, the Belgian manufacturer of high-end contract furniture, into to the Asia Pacific market. Within the first year, he tripled the revenue from the region and established distribution in China from the scratch. Distribution network was expanded in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and other countries.
Earlier successes as the Senior Business Development Manager with Workplace Solutions Inc. (WSI), the main distributor of Steelcase in Japan, included sales to Adidas, BBC, Facebook, Google, etc. multinational companies in Japan. Nakamura conceptualized and executed brand expansion strategy that saw the company introduce brands like Arper and BuzziSpace into to the Japanese market.
